NOW IN STOCK !! New! Martin Stefan Grossman Limited Edition Signature Model (see below)
New! Martin 00-18H Geoff Muldaur: We have to admit it, we have been fans of Mr. Muldaur since we first heard him sing "Don't You Leave Me Here" with the Kweskin Jug Band back in the day. We know he did a solo recording previous to his work with the KJB, but since we're West-Coasters, we got the message late. Still, possessed of one of the greatest voices in recorded music, and a traditionally based guitar style, it is only fitting and proper that C.F. Martin release the Geoff Muldaur Signature Model. What a terrific guitar! 00 sized and easy to hold, the guitar is designed with great inspiration from the Martin "Hawaiian" guitars of the '20s. Beautiful sunburst Spruce top, Mahogany back & sides, 12 fret neck with slotted peghead, and Waverly tuners. It certainly has that elegant simplicity that the great Martin vintage designs are known for, but it also has that great clarity of tone that players seek. Whether you're "Goin' Downtown" or headed to the "Storybook Ball" in your "Chevrolet", this is a great guitar! With hard case (msrp: $4999) Stock#NGB26537
New! Martin 000-18 SB Authentic: Oh my, what has Martin done now? Well friends, they have reached back into the past and brought forth what has to be my heart's desire. No other martin model has made my heart race as much as the vintage OM-18 model in sunburst. As a young lad growing up on the family farm in Manhattan Beach, California, after a slaving my afternoons away babysitting my little brother, I would look at all the photographs of the old time players and dream about owning a Martin guitar. And when the local music store received a used and battered 1930s OM-18 in that gorgeous dark sunburst, I would go down to the store and play the three chords (eventually four chords) that I knew, and hope to somehow be able to afford the princely sum of $65, to buy that guitar. Unfortunately, I never bought it, but a few years later was able to save money from my job in a factory that made cardboard boxes and purchased a slightly less battered 1941 D-18 for the exhorbitant price of $125. So, don't let this opportunity pass you by, if this is your heart's desire, grab it now! With hard case (msrp: $8749) Stock#NGB27014 photo
Used Martin 000-28B Norman Blake: (EXC) #35 of 52. It's now or never, they're not making these highly-collectible Brazilian NB beauties anymore. And we know you know how much Brazilian/Adirondack Martins appreciate over time. Could be your last chance to score one of the best sounding modern Martins ever made. And one designed for a legendary performer who definitely deserves his own signature model. This edition was supposed to be 100 originally but was suspended at 52 when certified Brazilian Rosewood became too scarce. Need we say more? Slotted peghead, 12-fret modified-V neck with 30s style heel, 1/4" Adirondack Spruce bracing for maximum response, custom tall-wide frets, 00 size soundhole (1/8" smaller than a 000 for increased bass response), 1-13/16" nut width with 2-3/8" string spacing, bone nut and long saddle, fossilized Walrus Ivory bridge and end pins with pearl dots, vintage Ebony bridge, and engraved Bronze Waverly-Sloane tuners with Ivoroid knobs. With hard case. Buffalobros. price: $10,000. Stock# UGB16385. PHOTO
New! Martin 000-28NB: Players, collectors and guitar fans all agree; the Martin Norman Blake model is unique and sounds terrific as well as being visually unusual. Martin was originally planning to make 52 of the Brazilian versions and a limited production Indian Rosewood versions. But public demand required that they continue building the Indian Rosewood version so that those who really wanted one to play, not as an investment, could obtain their hearty's desire. This is number 300 in the series, a very significant number for those who want an investment grade guitar and don't want to pawn their jewels in order to get one. New! Martin 000C-28 Andy Summers: One of the most interesting artist 000s that Martin has produced, this special edition has a glossy solid Italian Alpine Spruce top, glossy solid East Indian Rosewood back & sides, and a one-piece Mahogany neck. The top is bound with with a unique black/white “chevron checkered” pattern, while the back showcases a Style 45 multicolored back strip with distinctive black fiber borders. Accenting the soundhole is a triple-ring rosette with a central ring of fine herringbone. The top, back and sides are bound in ivoroid, the latter with mitered black/white fine line purfling. A black African ebony pyramid bridge graces the top, but a pickguard does not. Also includes nickel Waverly tuners, and a headplate inlaid with the Lotus flower, the Buddhist symbol of purity. The matching ivoroid-bound and mitered black African ebony fingerboard is inlaid in mother of pearl with Buddhist “Mudra” (hand gesture) position markers at the 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th and 15th frets, the yin/yang symbol at the 17th fret and Andy Summer’s signature between the 20th and 21st frets. A built-in Fishman Ellipse Blend pickup allows effortless amplification. Each inner label is numbered and signed by Andy Summers, Dick Boak, and CMF IV. This is number 48 of only 87!! With hard case. New! Martin 000-ECHF BB: Eric Clapton and Hiroshi Fujiwara's latest guitar collaboration for Martin; a sister instrument to the Bellezza Nera, but in creamy white, with a touch of black and pearl for dramatic effect. As beautiful as its predecessor in appearance and tone, this stunning 000 could only be called Bellezza Bianca (“White Beauty”). The twosome opted for a unique combination of solid tonewoods to give the new model a sound as distinctive as its look. This beauty has a top crafted from bookmatched Engelmann Spruce, treasured by players and guitar builders alike for its clear, full tone and outstanding balance. Scalloped 5/16" top braces enhance the top’s dynamic range. Big Leaf flamed Maple back and sides contribute bright timbre and impressive projection. The 1-3/4" (at the nut) modified V-shape neck with diamond volute is carved from genuine Mahogany, and features a black Ebony fingerboard with Style 45 snowflake-abalone markers and "Bellezza Bianca" inlaid with mother of pearl at the 20th fret. Don't miss the grained ivoroid body, neck, & headstock binding, herringbone top border & rear purfling, "slotted diamond" rosette, chrome tuners, and a beveled black pickguard. From the polished black African Ebony headplate with the “alternative torch” inlay to the bone nut & saddle, it's all quality workmanship with an artist's touch. Comes with a distinctive white Geib style case with white plush lining and features a special white interior label signed by Eric Clapton, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Martin Artist Relations head Dick Boak and Martin Chairman C. F. Martin IV. This is number 355 out of only 410 made. With hard case. (msrp: $5999) Stock# NGB23508. PHOTO
New! Martin 000-42: A wonderful guitar from Martin (aren't they all?). The 000-42 departs from the OM-42 only in one respect; it has a 24.9" scale instead of the OMs 25.5". The result is not only more comfort for the player, due to less distance between the frets, but the guitar also has a sweeter tone. An excellent alternative for players who have always liked the beautiful OM version, but really desire the extra comfort of the shorter scale. With hard case (msrp:$5849) Stock#NGB26646 photo
New! Martin Arts & Crafts 2: Hmmm? What to say about this one? A first blush, it appears to be a very uniquely decorated 000 body with a twelve fret, slotted peghead neck. Well. it is, but that's not all this finely crafted Martin has to offer. The Spruce top is silky smooth with '30s style herringbone purfling and wood binding. (something we haven't seen in a non custom shop model in over 70 years. The back & sides are of quarter-sawn White Oak, stained to a golden brown. For fans of the many nameless mail-order guitars of the early 20th Century, will recognize this wood combination immediately. At four places around the body are darker Rosewood pegs of the style of Stickley furniture (except that they don't stick out). The bridge is unique and has a shape not previously seen on a Martin production model, a sort of fancy belly bridge. The tuning machines loook as though they are fashioned from pewter, another homage to the arts and crafts tradition. And finally, the "Ginko leaf" fingerboard inlay is very unique and delicate and reminiscent of tulips. They could just as easily fit in to the Victorian era. The sound of the guitar is as unique as the visual appointments, a great blend of richness and clarity not found in any other guitar in our memory. However, first and foremost, it IS a Martin. New! Martin OM-18GE: Martin has once again reached into the past to produce a guitar from the pre-war "golden era' . Even more intrinsic this time because they chose not only to use the vintage woods, such as Adirondack Spruce and mahogany, but also because they chose to use the 'banjo tuner' style tuning pages that were the styl first used on the OM series when Mr. Bechtel's idea of a longer sacle, 14 fret instrument came into being. The sound is pure vintage Martin. Crisp, powerful, with that instantly recognizable Martin bass response. 1 3/4" nut width and 25.5" scale, just perfect. With hard case (msrp: $4699) Stock#NGB26840

New! Martin OM-28GE: Years from now, when players and collectors are discussing the "Golden Age" of luthiery, they may have to refer to them as Golden Age I and Golden Age II. The early Golden Age (from approx. 1927 to 1942) was an era that saw many of the classic designs become recognized examples of high quality guitar making. From 1984 to the present, guitar makers have re-invented the art of guitar making, often referring to the original designs. The Martin OM-28GE, is just such an instrument. Taking the original early '30s 14 fret OM design characteristics and marrying it to modern techniques to bring forth an instrument that will be recognized as the epitome of the luthier's art. The use of the hallowed Adirondack Spruce top, along with the fast disappearing Brazilian Rosewood back & sides, is an excellent start. Inside the guitar of course, Martin used the original "high X" scalloped bracing. The tone is just what you'd expect from an instrument that is one of the most sought after models in the Martin line. The neck is the perfect 1 3/4" wide at the nut and is carved to the vintage V shape. Here's a chance to own a guitar which will provide several lifetimes of pure playing pleasure. With hard case. New! Martin D-18GE: In our opinion, perhaps the best Martin dreadnought for the money. The combination of vintage Martin design combined with modern manufacturing capabilities. Excellent visual appointments, the epitome of elegant simplicity, and the sound that is the reason players are drawn to vintage instruments. All wrapped up in an underpriced guitar from the Grandaddy of guitar makers. With hard shell case. (msrp: $4199) Stock#NGB26689
New! Martin Ditson Dreadnought 111: OK, they fooled us. When Martin first announced the recreation of the original dreadnought guitar as envisioned by mssrs. Martin and Ditson, we thought: ah, just another cosmetic makeover. Boy, were we wrong! The 111 is in all respects a superb guitar. Posessed of more warmth than our favorite Martin, the D-18GE. While the GE is certainly an excellent flatpicker's delight, the 111 will appeal to both flatpickers and fingerpickers. An extremely versatile instrument, showing once again that you can learn from the past. With hard case (msrp: $6499) Stock#NGB26776 photo

New! New! New! Martin D-28 Authentic: You've all seen the boxes with the laundry detergent that proclaim "new, and improved", so what should Martin say about an instrument that is an exact replica of something built 70 years ago? New and un-improved, perhaps? Or Old and improved? A dilemma for the creative folks in Martin's advertising department, no doubt. They probably would be better off just stating that this is probably the finest dreadnought guitar being built today, that it is more than inspired by the Golden Era of guitar making. The finest available Adirondack Spruce top, and certified Brazilian Rosewood have been combined for the body. Put together by hand using traditional hide glue, and finished to perfection with vintage style lacquer. The neck rod is the traditional T shaped metal rod used in the early days, and Martin has used specially designed tuning machines that reflect the originals as well. Was all this attention to detail done so that they could produce a beautiful modern museum piece? Definitely not. Martin was seeking the authentic Pre-War tone, as well as vintage looks. They found it! The guitar sounds like an aged instrument. Incredibly powerful, deep bass response, wonderfully rich overtones in the mid-range, and that Martin clear treble. When you've been in business since 1833, and always under the eye of one of the Martin family, you know how to make fine guitars, even if you have to rely on your own history to do so. When we played it, we felt a lot like those dimwits in the yogurt commercials who try to come up with new superlatives, we were almost speechless. A truly amazing guitar. Pre-War sound, Pre-war looks, modern quality. It just doesn't get any finer. With special Authentic Series hard case. (msrp $39,999) Stock #NGB25585 photo

New! Martin HJ-38 Stefan Grossman: Is there anyone out there who is not familiar with Stefan Grossman? The author and co-author of hundreds of instructional, book, tapes, cds and DVDs. Mr. Grossman, first appeared on record with the Even Dozen Jug Band (an aggregation that also included Maria Muldaur, Zal Yanofsky, David Grisman, Joshua Rifkin, and just about every other player of note since the '60s). Mr. Grossman is known for being a perfectionist, especially when it comes to sound. The Martin folks explained that the guitar took much longer to design than usual because SG would not allow them to release any instrument that he did not deem perfect. Well, it is perfect! Robust, aggressive tonality with all the richness that can come from any Martin, new or old! this example is number 10 in the limited run. This is a rare opportunity to own a suberb, highly collectable Martin guitar. With hard case (msrp: $4999) Stock#NGB27102 photo
