If you are a fingerstyle afficianado and have not discovered Ehlers, do yourself a favor and call or stop by the store to investigate the crisp, clear bell-like tone in this guitar. Used Ehlers 15SRC: Rob Ehlers is one of the most creative guitar makers working today with a long history dating back to the 60s when he worked in Santa Monica with Ren Ferguson, who now runs the Gibson acoustic custom shop. Rob created this beautiful 15" body design with it's distinctive headstock and fingerboard extension in the early 70s when virtually every other guitar was a Gibson, Martin, Guild or a knockoff of one of these traditional looking instruments. Rob Ehlers is a true original. That makes him a special friend of Buffalo Bros because we like characters and there will never be another guitar maker like him. Long live Rob Ehlers! This little jewel with a bent cutaway has East Indian Rosewood back and sides, a German Spruce top, very curly Koa binding, brilliant Abalone rosette and mini-dot fingerboard markers, Ebony veneer on both the top and back of the peghead with a matching heel cap, and gold Schaller tuners. Talk about classy! That's nothing compared with the amazingly deep rich voice that swells out its ultra-cozy body. You won't be hugging anything else once you squeeze this baby. Did I mention the neck is super fast for all you lead players? With hard case. BuffaloBros. price: $3500. Stock# UGB2789. PHOTO

Used Ehlers DM: An extremely rare Ehlers Dreadnought with Mahogany back and sides and a remarkably beautiful and powerful Bearclaw Sitka top. Rob Ehler's choice of materials is always superb as you'd expect from someone who makes less than 36 guitars a year mostly by himself with no help from a computerized anything--just his loyal assistant Miguel who mostly does the finishing. (In fact, Rob can barely us e-mail.) This is the real thing from the gorgeous veneer on the front and back of the peghead, tortoise-shell binding on the body, fingerboard, and peghead, ultra-fine herringbone top border, elegant fingerboard markers consisting of Paua shell dots encircled with silver, real abalone rosette (instead of reconstituted shell), and gold Schaller tuners. With hard case. BuffaloBros. price: $3000. Stock# UGB11900 PHOTO
