1951 Gibson L-4C
Here's an interesting one. The Gibson L-4C is like taking the body specs of the ES-175 and making it an acoustic hollowbody archtop with a solid spruce top. The end result is a guitar that's super comfortable and easy to play with rich, warm acoustic tone and response. Here's the interesting part. It appears that at some point the instrument was converted to an electric as there are filled holes for volume and tone controls as well as some kind of switch and an input jack on the side. However the top has NOT been cut for pickups, so whatever they were using was probably secured to the top instead. When the holes were filled the entire guitar was refinished. Fortunately the instrument retains its sound and it plays like a dream. This also means that you can get a true vintage Gibson L-4C hollowbody archtop, a very rare find by the way, at an amazingly affordable price! With hard shell case.
