1954 Fender Deluxe Amp Wide Panel: The Fender Tweed amps from the '50s are still considered a benchmark for players and custom amp builders around the world and the Deluxe model is still at the top of the list for many. Late-'30s/Early-'40s Epiphone Electar Zephyr: These are undoubtedly among the coolest looking amps around. Designed to mimic the music stands used by the popular big bands of the time period, the Epiphone Electar Zephyr amplifier features a stylish wood cabinet with rounded top, maple veneer and deco epsilon front logo. At the time, the player actually sat behind the amp and the control panel is slanted to allow access to the volume and tone controls. This example is from around the end of the 1930s and is loaded with the original 12" Rola field coil speaker and puts out around 20 watts. The circuit was designed be a young Nat Daniels before embarking on his own journey wih his Danelectro products and the tone is a nice, midrange focused sound which is well suited to the arch top electric guitars that were being used. 1970 Standel Studio 30: Here's a rare find indeed! Standel amplifiers have become highly regarded among jazz players and also pedal steel players for their high quality, innovative designs and clean, clear tone.
