Gibson '58 Les Paul Standard There are certain instruments that will always be considered icons in the world of rock and roll. Resting right up there in the top portion of that elite list is the Gibson Les Paul Standard in cherry sunburst. This version recreates the 1958 incarnation with it's plain figure, solid carved maple top on solid mahogany back, early-'50s rounded neck profile, rosewood fingerboard, trapezoid pearl inlay, nickel hardware including ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece and a pair of Burstbucker pickups with 3-way toggle switch, CTS pots and bumble bee caps. Keep in mind that the plain top doesn't just simply bring the cost down, it also adds a certain smoothness and warmth the overall sound of the instrument while being a touch brighter in tone than the sibling Goldtop version.
