Used Favilla F-6: (EXC) A lot of folks aren't familiar with the Favilla Company. They started out building instruments in 1890 as Favilla Brothers. Giovanni and Giuseppi Favilla formally registered as a company in 1894. They had a small retail store as well as being a manufacturer. By the early 1920s Favilla Brothers had 55 employees building mandolins, banjos, guitars, violins, and of course, the most popular instrument of the time, the ukulele. In 1959 Hercules (Herk) Favilla took over the company, re-naming it Favilla Guitars Inc. and building about 3500 guitars per year between the years 1963 and 1967. They were known for quality instruments at moderate prices. This little player from the 60s has everything you want in a guitar: quality construction, great tone, and simple, but elegant appointments. All solid woods, Sitka Spruce top, and Mahogany back & sides in a smooth satin finish. The fingerboard is very nicely figured Brazilian Rosewood that leads from the peghead to the firestripe pickguard. The guitar has great action with a very comfortable D-shaped Mahogany neck. This is a great addition to a collection of USA made instruments, or as a player that you can take anywhere. With hard case. $800. Stock# UGC21259 photo

Ca. 1920 S.S. Stewart parlour:  One of the sweetest little parlor guitars you will ever hear. Spruce top aged to a golden color and old-growth Brazilian Rosewood back & sides. Sweet tone, rich in mellifluous overtones. Originally sold mostly by mail order, and later in mass retail outlets such as Sears, Roebuck & Co, these  'made by the thousands' instruments rarely survived their first generation of owners. But occasionally, as with this fine example, a caring and musically adept family cared for the instrument and preserved it for the enjoyment of future generations. With semi-hard case. $1150. New! Stonebridge DS-33-SR:  Those of you who have visited our booth at the many Bluegrass festivals that we attend every year, have had a chance to see first hand what incredible guitars the Stonebridge flattops are. For the rest of you, you might make it a point to either visit the shop or drop by our booth at one of the festivals for an in hand experience. We think you'll be as impressed as we are with these fine instruments. Frantisek Furch, who is known for producing some mighty fine mandolins, has now turned his attention to improving his already fine guitars. In cooperation with a Swiss biological engineer, he has developed a method of 'aging' the top of a guitar using a biological parasite that removes the part of the wood that naturally disappears with age. The result is an instrument that sounds 10 years old straight out of the box! This Spruce top, Rosewood back & sides dreadnought is a beautiful example of science influenced natural wood aging.
