Small Bodies

New! Martin LX Elvis Presley: The King first appeared on stage with a leather covered Martin. That guitar is now in the hall of fame. But you can keep him with you bay carrying this small Martin with the simulated leather covering. Or, it makes a great gift for the "little Elvis" in your family. With gig bag. (msrp: $699) Stock#NGB31005 photo

ca. 1880 Martin 1-21: Not only a collectable treasure, but a sweet sounding guitar as well. This diminutive Spruce and Rosewood guitar sounds just about as mellow and sweet as they come. With its herringbone rosette, and the old style German made slot head tuning machines,it is an extremely desirable guitar. Only slightly blemished by the repaired top fissure at the seam, the sound is totally unaffected, and the guitar still produces that wonderful combination that Martin quality, top grade woods and age can provide. A real sweetheart. With gigbag. $4500 Stock#UGB30325 BUY NOW

1931 Martin 0-17: The Martin 0-17 is a legendary instrument. Not only with the Blues players, but also with the folkies and great singer-songwriters such as Cindy Lee Berryhill. The tone of the Martin all Mahogany models is just sweet and pure. Clean and crisp, the projection is excellent, and the separation of the notes is exquisite. With chipboard case. $2650 Stock#UGB30945 photo

1951 Martin 0-18: Once you've experienced the tone of a vintage Martin guitar, it's hard to resist owning one. Yes, there are some current makers who produce wonderful guitars, many in the Martin tradition, too. As John Wooden once said after having been complemented on his coaching of the young Lew Alcindor "You can't coach height". And so it is with guitars, "You can't build age". The richness of tone from this, one of the smaller guitars in the Martin line-up will surround your ears with the most pleasant of sounds. Each note stands out like a Christmas bell, not only for its sonorous splendor, but also because it brings joy whenever you hear it. You must play it to appreciate it. The guitar shows much of the handling marks that you would show too if you were in your late 50s, but is structurally sound, and will provide endless years of playing satisfaction. With chipboard case. $3000 Stock#UGC30071 photo BUY NOW

1880s Martin 0-28: There is perhaps nothing in the world as pleasurable as hearing the sound of an old New Yorker Martin. This size 0, which was considered a large guitar by 19th century standards, has the beautiful sounding combination of Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood that causes the ears to dance with delight. Rich and rewarding tone for all to enjoy. This example is priced low because of the many (over a dozen) surface cracks that don't seem to penetrate the top yet to some may seem unsightly. The top has been sealed with a lacquer wash that obscures the original French polis, but has not diminished the tone. In this day and age, it is nearly impossible to find such a wonderful instrument without taking out a second mortgage or selling off the kids. With hard case. $5000 Stock#UGB30906

IN TRANSIT!! 1923 Martin 0-42: Certainly there is no more iconic guitar in the world than the "New Yorker" style Martins. And what could be more special than one with the inlaid abalone top border? We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of this beautiful classic. Estimated delivery date Friday, Nov. 20th. With original hard case. $14,000

1949 Martin 00-18: This 60 year old Martin is a living example of the benefits of a vintage guitar. Showing some honest wear, as well as a few nicks and scratches, the calling card of this instrument lies in its tone. An it has plenty of extremely impressive tone as well as projection and clarity. If ever a guitar could sing, this would be the one. If your heart doesn't skip a few beats after playing a few notes, then you need to have a talk with your cardiologist. A lovely example of the art and tradition of C.F. Martin and Company. With hard case. $4000 Stock #UGB29422 PHOTO BUY NOW

000

New! Martin 000-15: These all Mahogany Martins continue to be extremely popular even after being first introduced by Martin almost 100 years ago. They have that great combination of warmth and punch that appeals to folkies, Blues afficianados, and just about everyone who picks one up. With hard case. (msrp: $1249) Stock#NGB30706 photo

2001 Martin 000-16SGT: The Folksinger's favorite! Martin's updated version of the 000-16NY employs some of Martin's latest technology in bringing this sweet sounding guitar into the 20th century. The original New Yorker style guitar is very familiar to those who follow the teachings of mssrs. Guthrie, Seeger and Lomax. The latest version , as represented by this immaculately maintained example, has a mortise and tenon neck joint and Martin's 'modified A style' bracing. All else is as friendly and familiar as can be. With hard case. $900 Stock#UGB30884 photo

Used Martin 000-18 Authentic sunburst: Some makers produce 'reissue' models and some produce 'replicas' of others vintage designs. When C.F. Martin & Co. sets out to produce an Authentic, they do it right. Absolute attention to details, and of course, over 175 years of experience in building Martins. This 000-18 is a superb example of why the pre-war Martin guitars are highly desirable treasures. We could go on about the virtues of the Adirondack Spruce top, or the quarter-sawn Mahogany back & sides, but looking at the photos of the gorgeous sounding and spectacular looking sunburst Authentic, says more than we could ever hope to. With hard case. $4500  Stock#UGB27014 photo

1957 Martin 000-18: Yes, this is a 52 year old Martin 000-18, and yes, it has that sound. Beyond that, a host of well meaning players/repairmen have had their way with her. Most noticeable of course, is the homemade refinish job that clothed its body in the early '60s. Thankfully, unlike the majority of home repair jobs, this new clear coat was not applied too thickly, so that the wood continues to vibrate and produce the soothing tones that Martins are famous for. The rest of the guitar is very serviceable, and a professional neck set by Mr. James Hood has made it right. Priced to entice you to own a fine sounding instrument and have a little coin left over to put towards the mortgage, or a new banjo. (OK, so we went a little crazy there for a second). With hard case. $3000 Stock#UGB29860 photo BUY NOW

2006 Martin 000-28: The 000-28 has been a Martin standout since it was first introduced almost 100 years ago. The 'slightly smaller than dreadnought' and it's almost twin brother the OM-28 have been seen in the hands of great players such as Big Bill Broonzy, Bob Shane of the Kingston Trio, Eric Clapton, and countless others. Its extramely comfortable 1 11/16" wide neck with the 24.9" shorter scale, make those 3 & 4 fret stretches much more comfortable. The combination of a Sitka Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back & sides with Martin's famous X bracing lends itsef to sweet tone with plenty of projection. With hard case. $1800 Stock#UGB22312 photo

New! Martin 000-28EC: I don't think even Martin knew when they first introduced the Eric Clapton Signature model, just how popular it was going to be. The Grand concert body with the scalloped bracing has been a Martin staple for years. But whwn Martin brought out this model with the pearl signature on the last fret, folks sat up and took notice in a big way. Players argue constantly about the 'forward shifted' versus 'standard' X bracing. But on one thing, they all agree: the 000-28EC sounds fantastic! Whether you're a fan of 'slow hand' or not, this one will exceed all your expectations. With hard case (msrp: $4349) Stock#NGB30860

Used Martin 000-28EC SB: The terrifically popular Martin 000-28 Eric Clapton signature model. Gorgeously finished in Martin's "1935 sunburst" finish. Same great tone, asme excellent playability, just previously owned with a dazzling sunburst top. Withn hard case. $2450 Stock#UGC22169 photo

Used Martin 000-28NB: Knowing full well that it is the skill of the player that is of paramount importance to the quality of the tone produced by any instrument, we never the less highly praise the quality of the Martin Norman Blake Signature model. A lot of companies these days will attach an artist's name to a model whether the artist has ever played or in some cases, even seen the instrument. Not so here. Norman Blake had a hand in every facet of this instrument's design, From his predisposition for a simple set of appointment which leads to the inlay-less fretboard, to his penchant for playing on tall, wide frets. This guitar is Norman Blake all the way. The soundboard and its braces are Adirondack Red Spruce with Rosewood back & sides. The Mahogany neck has a smooth satin finish that enables the player's hand to glide effortlessly along the Ebony fretboard. The scale length is a superbly comfortable 24.9" with a modified V contour. Even the delicate fretboard inlay is reminiscent of the 00-42 Wurlitzer that is in Mr. Blake's private collection. With hard case. $3000 Stock#UGB16403 photo

OM

New! Martin OMC-1E: Not only has Martin designed the new OM-1 with all the tradition of their renowned history in mind, but now, there's a Martin that is modern in every respect that still produces the hallowed Martin tone. Martin has leapt into the modern age with the OM-1CE giving the guitar a cutaway and also, an internal pickup system. Here's your new Martin! (msrp: $1499) Stock#NGB30850

New! Martin OM-28GE: Years from now, when players and collectors are discussing the "Golden Age" of luthiery, they may have to refer to them as Golden Age I and Golden Age II. The early Golden Age (from approx. 1927 to 1942) was an era that saw many of the classic designs become recognized examples of high quality guitar making. From 1984 to the present, guitar makers have re-invented the art of guitar making, often referring to the original designs. The Martin OM-28GE, is just such an instrument. Taking the original early '30s 14 fret OM design characteristics and marrying it to modern techniques to bring forth an instrument that will be recognized as the epitome of the luthier's art. The use of the hallowed Adirondack Spruce top, along with the fast disappearing Brazilian Rosewood back & sides, is an excellent start. Inside the guitar of course, Martin used the original "high X" scalloped bracing. The tone is just what you'd expect from an instrument that is one of the most sought after models in the Martin line. The neck is the perfect 1 3/4" wide at the nut and is carved to the vintage V shape. Here's a chance to own a guitar which will provide several lifetimes of pure playing pleasure. With hard case. (msrp: $14,999) Stock# NGB21907. photo BUY NOW

New! Martin OM-28 Marquis: A superb re-creation of a classic Martin guitar. And who else to do it right other than the venerable C.F. Martin & Co.? A magnificent sounding guitar with Adirondack Spruce top and Madagascar Rosewood back & sides. With hard case. (msrp: $7599) Stock#NGB29768

Used Martin OMC-28E: Martin's legacy of having built fine quality guitars in the old world tradition for over 175 years is very well known. But few folks realize that Martin is a living, vibrant company who feels that they still can learn new ideas. You can have the best of both worlds! With hard case. $2350 Stock#UGB22985

The comfortable 14 fret "modified V " neck feels great, and makes playing this great-sounding guitar even more fun. Remember, these are no longer in production, so this is one of the last brand new ones you're going to see! With hard case. Stock# NGB21177* photo

New! Martin OM-45 Roy Rogers: Limited to 84 instruments, this beautiful creation from C.F. Martin re-creates Leonard Slye's (AKA Roy Rogers') own OM-45 Deluxe. With specifications from Martin's Golden Era Series, Martin has set the bar extremely high for those who seek recognition as crafters of highly desirable guitars. Using rare premium quality Adirondack spruce and supported by 1/4" scalloped Adirondack spruce braces. The long scale, 1-3/4" (at the nut) genuine mahogany neck showcases the Golden Era® modified-V neck profile, solid square tapered headstock and elongated diamond volute. Style 45 abalone pearl is inlaid into the top border as well as the back and sides. The bridge saddle, nut and bridge pins are fossilized ivory. Top, back, sides, headstock and fingerboard are bound with grained ivoroid, with the latter two also inset with mitered wood fiber inlays. Grained ivoroid is also utilized for the heelcap and endpiece. The tortoise-colored teardrop pickguard has been inlaid in a floral abalone design that pays homage to the original OM-45 Deluxe. The bridge wings show snowflake inlays and the headstock features the classic antique Martin torch inlay. Style 45 snowflake pattern fingerboard, with Roy Rogers’ signature inlaid between the 19th and 20th frets. Gold open back Waverly tuners complete this gorgeous picture. With hard case. New! Martin D-1: The Martin dreadnought goes back almost a century, but the Martin D-1 dreadnought is as new as they come. Martin has set their smartest minds to come up with an ecologically friendlier guitar that still has that great Martin tone. The D-1 has a neck made from their manufactured material known as Stratobond. This makes the neck stronger, much less susceptible to warping or twisting due to atmospleric changes, and meand saving a whole lot of Mahogany trees to be enjoyed by future generations.Ebven the peghead overlay is HPL, saving another hundred trees or so over the next few years. Martin utilizes their newest hybrid X bracing to ensure that it still sounds like a Martin. (msrp: $1199) Stock#NGB30886 photo

New! Martin DC-1E: The full on Martin performance guitar that should appeal to any player that wants a whole lot of guitar without parting with a whole lot of cash. This Martin dreadnought has a Spruce top, Sapele back & sides, a cutaway, and built in pickup system. How's that for a whole lot of bang for your buck? (msrp: $1499) Stock#NGB30969

D-16

New! Martin HD-16RLSH: Perhaps the best value in a higher quality Martin dreadnought. Sitka Spruce top, Rosewood back & sides, all solid woods, herringbone trim, and the large sound hole as found on the uber-dreadnoughts. Magnificent tone, of course, and increased projection. With hard case. (msrp: $2699) Stock#NGB30364 photo

Used Martin DC-16RE Aura: This is the Martin "do everything" dreadnought. Sitka Spruce top with a high gloss finish, and Indian Rosewood back & sides. Martin's bow to current trends has the venerable C. F. & Co. offering this fine sounding instrument with a cutaway, abalone inlaid rosette, and built in Fishman Aura pickup system. With hard case. $1650 Stock#UGB28538 photo

New! Martin HDC-16RE: This is one of the newest generation of Martin guitars that needs a translation to understand the model designation. Got your pencils ready? The basic guitar is an HDC: a dreadnought body with herringbone top purfling, and a cutaway. Are you with me so far? It's a '16' series, which means that it has the mortise and tenon neck joint, all solid wood, and Martin's hybrid bracing pattern (sometimes referred to a 'A' bracing). Hang on, we're almost there. 'R' is Martin's designation for an instrument that has back & sides of Rosewood. And finally, the ever popular "E' which means that it's not gas powered, but electrical. So you can plug in and annoy your neighbors. Easy, wasn't it? With hard case. (msrp: $3299) Stock#NGB30893 photo

D-18

New! Martin Ditson Dreadnought 111: Back in the early part of the 20th Century, the C.F. Martin Co. was approached by representatives of the Oliver Ditson Co. to create a new model, specifically for their stores. The guitar they had in mind was quite a bit larger than the models prevalent at the time. The Ditson folks wanted an instrument that would cover the low end of the tonal scale and be loud enough to be a commanding rhythm instrument for the very popular mandolin orchestras of the day. The Martin Co. arrived at the dimensions and appointments that you see here, and soon EVERYBODY wanted one. Over the years, the guitar took on a few more frets, the waist became pinched a little more, the neck narrowed... you get the idea. Here Martin has re-introduced the Ditson 111 in its original configuration. The guitar is big, but it has subtle overtones that make it an extremely well balanced and sweeter sounding instrument. Our pick for the best new/old guitar on the planet! With hard case. (msrp: $6499). Stock #NGB28255 PHOTO

New! Martin D-18GE: The D-18 Golden Era, in our opinion, belongs at the top of the list of guitar that players should look at. The D-18GE was actually designed when the first 14 fret Martin dreadnought rolle out of Martin's shop back in the '30s. It took a whole lot of smarts on the part of Chris Martin IV and his design team to realize that what players really wanted was the tone that they had been hearing in the guitars Martin made during the pre-War era. The heart of any vintage styled guitar is the High X scalloped bracing that martin had already been using until heavier strings made it necessary to build stronger guitars. (any one remember those 'bridge cables' that came in the  blue box  with "Mapes"  printed on the front?). Spruce top, Mahogany back & sides, and you have a guitar to please modern players as well as those who cry, "They don't make 'em like they used to".....Oh, yes they do. With hard case. (msrp: $4349) Stock#NGB30859

D-28

New! Martin D-28:  There's probably not a lot that can be said to shine new light on the guitar that most people envision when they think of an acoustic guitar. The Martin D-28 has been often copied, and even more often, seen in the hands of some of the world's most prominent musicians. It was the D-28 that supported the close harmonies of The Kingston Trio, provided the drive behind Flatt & Scruggs, and a D-28 that allowed Michael Hedges to perform his fretboard pyrotechnics. Almost synonymous with the word dreadnought, this is the standard by which all others are judged. With hard case. (msrp: $2999) Stock#NGB30862

New! Martin HD-28: Players who love the dreadnought bodied D-28 hungered for the 'old' look, part of which was the unique marquetry, often referred to as herringbone, that Martin used until the mid 1940s. Remember, the 1940s were a time when we weren't buying a lot of Mercedes and BMWs because there was this war going on in Europe involving Germany and Italy against...well...everybody else. One of those German products that was unobtainable was Martin's signature top purfling manufactured for many years. Thus, Martin dropped the use of this unobtainable material and players longed to see it again. So, in the late 70s Martin started to produce the wildly popular HD-28 which once again featured this decoration. Martin of course, did make one change of benefit to the modern player, the low profile neck, which adds comfort to an already superb design. With hard case. (msrp: $3449) Stock#NGB30863, NGB30896*

Used Martin D-28 Marquis: The Martin Marquis series, just like the dimond cut of the same name, represents the culmination of Martin tradition and technology. The dreadnought style was first pioneered by Martin almost 100years ago. At that time, Martin used Adirondack Red Spruce for all the spruce parts of the guitar. The Marquis continues in that tradition. The bracing is scalloped, and the nut and saddle are of fossilized ivory. The one is exactly what you would expect from a premier Martin guitar. With hard case. $2650 Stock#UGB27368*

Specials and Limited Editions

New! Martin HD-7 Roger McGuinn: Fans of the Byrds and Mr. McGuinn will be interested in this one, as well as anyone with a taste for the unusual. This top shelf 14-fret dreadnought features a solid glossy Sitka Spruce top, glossy solid Rosewood back & sides, and a modified V Mahogany neck. The neat thing about this guitar is the doubled G string--tuned normally along with an extra one an octave up. Also, a 1 3/4" wide Ebony fingerboard with style 45 hexagon abalone inlays, ivoroid body, neck, & headstock binding, a style 45 abalone rosette, herringbone top border, gold Schaller tuners with ebonoid buttons, and a tortoise pickguard. This guitar has been designed around the 7th string to extract every bit of tone and playability possible, from the modified headstock and bridge to the forward-shifted scalloped bracing. And of course Martin did an excellent job--this one rings with life, and is a joy to hear and see. It's #162, signed on the label by McGuinn and CMF IV. With hard case. (msrp: $5599) Stock# NGB20636* PHOTO

New! Martin HJ-38 Stefan Grossman: Is there anyone out there who is not familiar with Stefan Grossman? The author and co-author of hundreds of instructional, book, tapes, Cds and DVDs. Mr. Grossman, first appeared on record with the Even Dozen Jug Band (an aggregation that also included Maria D'Amato (Muldaur), John Sebastian, David Grisman, Steve Katz, Joshua Rifkin, and just about every other acoustic player of note from the '60s). Mr. Grossman is known for being a perfectionist, especially when it comes to sound. The Martin folks explained that the guitar took much longer to design than usual because SG would not allow them to release any instrument that he did not deem perfect. Well, it is perfect! Robust, aggressive tonality with all the richness that can come from any Martin, new or old! This example is number 10 in the limited run. A rare opportunity to own a suberb, highly collectable Martin guitar. With hard case (msrp: $5199) Stock#NGB26644. photo
